Gypsum Cement

Silicone rubber molds made for lost-wax casting can also be used to produce polychrome sculptures in Forton modified gypsum cement. This is a blend of calcined gypsum (Plaster of Paris), liquid acrylic resin, melamine powder, and a hardener. The result is a material that can reproduce very fine detail, that’s hard and tough enough to qualify as a permanent material, and that can be hand-painted with acrylic-based paints.
